If you are looking for a massage therapist, you have a lot of choices. sports massage services

Sports massage is quite different from other forms of bodywork. It is tailored to each client’s specific athletic needs. These athletic needs vary from person to person and can include:

  • Increased flexibility
  • Recovering from injury
  • Looking to perform better in competition
  • Reduce pain
  • Maintain the body in optimal condition
  • Increase range of motion
  • Recovering from competition or an intense workout.

Sports massage is to be performed before or after physical activity or while training for a specific athletic event.

David is considered to be the regions leading expert in sports massage. He utilizes techniques based on the athlete’s needs and are targeted towards helping athletes reach their goals. He has trained with many of the best sports massage educators in the country. He developed the sports massage curriculum at the Pittsburgh School of Massage Therapy and taught the sports massage course for many years.

Massage for Runners

David has been running since high school. He was All WPIAL in the 400 and 800 meters. He ran Cross Country, Indoor and Outdoor Track as a scholarship athlete at West Virginia University. It was at WVU that he first learned of the benefits of massage, how much quicker he was able to recover and how much his times improved.

It was that curiosity and running marathons that propelled him into checking out and subsequently attending the Pittsburgh School of Massage Therapy. While getting his practice off the ground, he knew that he wanted to work with athletes and would volunteer to massage the runners after they finished the Pittsburgh Marathon. Eventually, David was asked to be the Massage Coordinator of the race and held that position for over 10 years. He has worked on hundreds of runners from first time 5K participants to elite world class marathoners.

If you are a runner, you need a massage therapist that specializes and understands runners. See how David can help you achieve your running goals.

Neural Reset Therapy

Neural Reset Therapy is a fairly new therapy treatment that is based on the findings of two renowned scientists from many years ago, Charles Sherrington and Eduard Pfluger.

Charles Sherrington came up with the Law of Reciprocal Inhibition, which states that when a muscle is activated, its antagonist (the muscle that does the opposite action) is simultaneously inhibited or relaxed.

Eduard Pfluger discovered the Law of Symmetry which states that at a sufficiently intense level of stimulation, motor reactions can be seen in similar muscles bilaterally. What that means is that if you contract a muscle on the left side of your body while it also is being stimulated, it will cause a reset to a normal state of tonus on the right side.

Some of the things that make NRT different from other therapies are:

  • It can be done fully clothed.
  • No deep pressure is required.
  • Creams or lotion are not required.
  • There is no need to touch the muscle being reset.

David has been studying Neural Reset Therapy since 2014 and is the currently the only therapist NRT Certified in the state of Pennsylvania.

Massage for Golfers

Do you have low back pain? Do you have difficulty getting proper rotation in your back swing? How about shoulder stiffness? Do you have soreness in the wrists or forearms? These are all maladies that can affect your golf game.

Lack of flexibility is the main cause of most golf injuries. What type of warm up/ stretching routine do you do before teeing off? If you’re not flexible enough, you may have a tendency to change your biomechanics to compensate. How can I help? Through various massage techniques and Neural Reset Therapy, I can assist you in achieving greater flexibility. I can also show you self massage techniques that you can do for yourself at home as well as different stretches you can do at the golf course before you tee off or during your round.
